Rider of record Sol Saltzman was joined by T.O. Powersports/Fasst Co/Oneal rider Ryan Kudla (Pictured), 2-Time WORCS Pro Privateer of the year Matt Karlson, BITD Fourt Stroke Champion Ricky Brabec and 2009 baja 1000 Class 21 winner Mike Blackman to make the race to the tip of Baja. Their main competition was that of Class 21 points leader Adam Neuwirth who had garnered the help of the always fast Eddy Brothers, Matt and Max Jr., Bill Gilbert, Dennis Greene, Scott Yenzer and Colie Potter.

Kudla started strong in pole position leaving ahead of the rest of the class. Initially he fell back to 3rd behind the Neuwirth team as his strict graduate school schedule precluded him from pre-running the start. Once he got into a groove he was able to make the time back up and take the class lead, and 6th overall, into Honda pit 3 where he handed off the bike to Karlson just as the Neuwirth team was pulling in. Karlson, being an avid moto racer, was flawless in the San Filepe sand whoops and was able to put 30 minutes on Neuwirth and slide into 5th overall. 101x would end up battling for 3rd and 4th with the 30+ team of Francisco Septian and Shane Esposito and the 40+ team of Louie Franco, AMA Supercross idol Ricky Johnson, THE Troy Lee, Vegas to Reno winner Scott Meyers and Jeff Kaplan.

Baja was taking its toll on all the bikes and riders with AS Racing’s 11x dropping out with a broken cam chain, Factory KTM’s 7x with a blown motor and Honda B Team’s Justin Imhof crashing big just out side of Loreto. He knocked himself unconcious and broke his arm. With the help of the locals, the McMillian Crew, volunteer firefighters and fellow racers sitting in 3rd (Septian) and 4th (Franco) overall stoppping they were able to get him and get him out safe. He was flown to La Paz then later into San Diego and is in good shape with no serious injuries.

As it got darker things got more and more interesting. around 1 in the morning 101x came into the pits 25 minutes ahead of the Neuwirth team and had a very long pit… Neuwirth was able to get out 2 minutes ahead of 101x but with Ricky Brabec now on the bike they had little chance of keeping the lead. Brabec was not only able to pass 102x but took the bike all the way into 2nd overall before handing it off to Blackmen. Neuwirth was now over an hour behind but anything can happen in Baja…

Both 30+ and 40+ teams put in a hard charge getting back by the 101x team. The 40+ team did the incredible finishing 2nd overall, 2 hours and 14 minutes behind the 1x bike. The 30+ team finished 3rd overall 18 minutes behind Franco and the 101x bike corssed the finish line 21 minutes back completeing the 1037 miles in a total of 22 hours, 33 minutes and 41 seconds. the Neuwirth team had not made any time on 101x and finished an hour behind giving the points lead and 2010 Class 21 Championship to Sol Saltzman!

Congratulations to JCR Honda’s Kendall Norman and Quinn Cody for taking the overall win for Honda; the 14th time in a row!!!!
